After starting his own private practice, Dr. Hsieh became acutely aware of inefficiencies in physician workflow.
The first problem he tackled was charge capture. Many hospital physicians print out facesheets and rounding lists, writing ICD-10 codes and daily billing by hand. These sheets are then manually entered into spreadsheets—a system prone to data entry errors and lost documents, resulting in lost revenue.
In 2019, Dr. Hsieh built a solution to automatically extract facesheet information into an online database. The only limitation was that each hospital used a different facesheet format, making a universal solution impossible. With the advent of AI, that limitation has been removed, and Charge Capture now works with any hospital facesheet.
With hospital rounding solved, Dr. Hsieh turned his attention to outpatient care. Documentation has long been the most time-consuming part of a physician's daily workflow. An AI medical scribe was the obvious solution, but existing products had limitations in documentation style, language recognition, and EHR integration. So he built his own.
